Battleview Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, steps from the Chickamauga National Battlefield and only 15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. A historic home that once housed the 6th Cavalry band members, it is part of the Barnhardt Circle historic homes. The area, also known as “The Post,” showcases 21 historic buildings built between 1900 and 1906 to form the heart of the original fort. Located within the circle are several little league-sized baseball fields, a large open field area, the newly restored historic gazebo, and the 6th Cavalry Museum. The museum focuses on the history of the fort and contains many wonderfully preserved items and pictures.

Breezee Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast is small, private, and designed as a romantic getaway. It is close to Whitetail, C and O Canal and Fort Frederick. The Red Bridge Lodge is a newly renovated 113 year old rock home located on Spring Creek in downtown Hot Springs. The home is approximately 3200 SF, has 4 BR’s, 3 full baths and is perfect for larger groups, multiple families, reunions, girls weekends, etc. The knotty pine master BR is huge and features a king size bed, a twin bed and a queen sized futon, if needed. The second upper level BR is maple and has a queen size sleigh bed and a twin bed. The third upper level bedroom is the “Robin’s Nest” and features two twin beds. The cherry living room has a large sectional sofa, 55″ flat screen TV and leather reading chairs. The sunroom features an exposed rock wall, another flat screen TV, sofa, reading chairs and great views of the back yard and patio. The custom kitchen and dining room feature 20 foot vaulted ceilings with skylights, exposed beams, exposed rock wall, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and a huge farm table made from recycled barn wood. There is also a laundry/mud room for your convenience. There is a large rear rock patio with seating for 10 and a large charcoal BBQ. The side covered porch has a porch swing, two gliders, mountain views and is perfect for getting some shade on a hot day. The backyard is the jewel of the property and has several Adirondack chairs, a fire pit and access to the refreshing swimming and/or fishing hole! The property is also adjacent to The Old Red Bridge, which was built in 1910.

The Antietam National Battlefield and National Cemetery surround the Inn and honor those who fought here on September 17, 1862. In what became the bloodiest single-day battle ever fought in the U.S. and the first major battle to be fought on Union soil, Major General George McClellan narrowly defeated General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. This “victory” claimed a very steep price: more than 22,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, or missing at the day’s end. Towns near the line of fire were turned into army hospitals overnight. The battle, though, offered President Abraham Lincoln an opportunity to issue the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation which went into effect on January 1, 1863.
